Question:
Hello, I have used Nutrasweet products over the last 15 years. I should say a lot of Nutrasweet. About a month ago my doctor diagnosed me as mildly depressed and put me on 10mg of prozac. It seemed to start helping with the depression but I had other side effects. I also stopped using Nutrasweet about 2 weeks ago. It seems like I have had more headaches, migranes, depression since getting of the Nutrasweet.
You are more likely having headaches from the lack of caffeine, if you were drinking caffeinated beverages, but it is possible that the lack of phenylalinine could cause it, too (some "brain supplements" contain it.) I would try a small amount of coffee and see if it helps, then wean off it if didn’t want to use caffeine at all. turf

And if there is how long does it take and the side effects. Is there anything to do to help with this detox period. Also what can I expect after detoxification? please respond to me privately or cc: letter to my email at thanks kevin

No. Come on, there is no such thing as "detox". Jet Silverman To email me, remove the x. (I won’t buy from anyone who sends me ads.) If ignorance is bliss, why aren’t there more happy people?

Kevin, I have received a large number of email from people who were "addicted" to aspartame. And it would be surprising about the depression symptom as an independent researcher of aspartame was recently quoted as saying that aspartame inhibits the production of seratonin. Most of the people who were addicted went through withdrawl symptoms of anywhere from a couple of days to several weeks. Withdrawl symptoms were common in cases where the person was still ingesting a significant amount of caffeine. However, I would suspect that caffeine withdrawl could be a significant part of your symptoms if you have quickly eliminated caffeine. I often suggest that people consider the idea of eliminating toxic sweeteners like aspartame and then at a later time, when they are ready, to gradually reduce and possibly eliminate caffeine. There was a discussion on one holistic-related group for a remedy to chronic aspartame-caused damage/poisoning and I can refer you to this discussion if you’re interested. Otherwise, I think that a gradually movement towards a healthier nutrition plan plus the incorporation of other holistic healing techniques (e.g., yoga, acupuncture, etc., etc.) is a good way to promote healing. LOL. Nutrasweet is not toxic, and caffeine is 100% natural. Jet Silverman To email me, remove the x. (I won’t buy from anyone who sends me ads.) If ignorance is bliss, why aren’t there more happy people?
