Question:
I don’t know how to word this. I know, sorta know, how you feel. I had a complete colectomy with my rectum removed and have an ileostomy. The difference is, I am female. I had to have reconstruction of my vaginal area. The Dr. took part of a muscle from the inside of my leg and somehow filled in the area where the rectum had been. It’s been a couple years and it still isn’t healed completely. I have a very hard time having sex because of the pain. My husband is very understanding and even kinda jokes about it. He says "one of these days wife, we’re gonna do it!" *g* ( He calls me wife all the time.) Well it’s very hard for me because I really feel guilty. There isn’t anything wrong with him and it’s like he’s being penalized because I have all these health problems. I get so depressed about it. I have had so may problems with my ileostomy and and all the surgeries. I don’t heal. I am now diabetic, (predisone) and so that’s another thing I gotta worry about. Well I could go on and on but I won’t bore you with all that stuff. I just wanted you to know that even females have these sort of problems and feel bad too. Gee, like a previous post I hate spelling mistakes. I reread my post and what did I do I spelt Crohn’s (as Chron’s). I must be going dippy (Thats what sex does to you)*grin* – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -John Harman wrote: > It’s 9am (Australia time) everything should be going well. It’s 9am (Australia time) everything should be going well. I had chron’s for several years before I was dx with lymphoma in the rear end. Chemo didn’t do any good, but in 1995 I had a colectomy, rectum removed and a considerable amount of lymphoma taken out as well. After that a number of sessions of radium-therapy knocked out the remaining cancer. Since then life has improved heaps. The pain has gone I’ve got a illeostomy but it was a small price to pay for what my wife and I had gone through. Life was slowly getting better and better. After the removal of my rectum and other tissue surrounding my rear end sex as we new it was still possible to some extent, but I was impotent. After what we had been through it was a small price to pay. I have a very supportive wife and there is no problem there. The problem is me. Not being able to have an erection seems to be coming much more of an issue now than it ever was before. I know I should be thankfull that basically I’m well, but it just doesn’t seem to help. I have thought of injections. I had to do them myself when I was having chemo, and I’m not going to get something that you can pump up. I’ve had enough operations. Apparently there is a pill for men that isn’t far from being approved by the FDA in the United States, if thats the case then I suppose it will eventually come here. I’m sorry to bore you with my depression but you have always been a very supportive group and I suppose I wanted to have a whinge. I hope you are all keeping as well as possible. John
