Clonazepam and coming back to the group

Question:

Hi Jackie, Clonazepam is the only benzo I have ever tried. Maybe Xanax would be the ticket for me along with Prozac? I’m going to go see my MD very soon and talk of the options. Things are getting very serious in the depression department and I need to do something soon. I do have a question, does switching benzo’s cause any withdrawal symptoms? Take care, Stuart

If you take an equivalent dose (which may need some adjustment because our reactions to meds are very individual) switching benzos should be easy and certainly not cause withdrawal symptoms. Dear Stuart, Prozac is a bit stimulating, it shouldn`t cause the sedation that paxil and luvox can cause, of course, YMMV. Will prozac work for you? I have no idea but it surely can`t hurt to talk to your doctor about it. Have you ever tried another benzo besides clonazepam? If you haven`t, you may want to discuss this with your doctor as well. A different benzo "may" not cause the sedation and forgetfulness that you get with the clonazepam.  Xanax xr is now available, don`t know if you can get it in Canada though.
