Can I ask a question

Question:

Yep… and its so weird, suddenly Im fine and then Im crying for some reason. I thought it only happened in movies, or to pregnant women in movies! :) Hannah – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I don’t know if this has been asked before but do you feel depressed and cry for no apperant reason?  I was just wondering. Missy Who at this moment is crying and not sure why

Response:

That sure sounds like depression to me!  I have spent the last week in bed, crying now and again, out of nowhere.  Hideous, innit? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I don’t know if this has been asked before but do you feel depressed and cry for no apperant reason?  I was just wondering. I’ve been to a therapist but Im more into the selfhelp.I’m into herbs and vitamins, read alot of books on depression and possitive thinking.

<snip Do you find the books on positive thinking work, if so, could you provide the names of the books you have read. I’m willing to try anything…well not quite but ya na what I mean!!                Duncan – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Candy A Handful of patience is worth more than a bushel of brains.

Response:

I am currently reading "Feeling Good   The New Mood Therapy" By David D. Burns. M.D. It is a talk through therapy, read the book do the daily exersices and you will feel the difference.  Not only am I depressed but I’m over weight and so I ordered Susan Powders "Give Me Five" I found that helped on my depression more, these are tools that I found gave me a possitive outlook and taught me to change my way of thinking.  Im far from finished but I feel so much better, Im on my way if I can stay motivated.  Maybe this could help someone, good luck! some seem to. Me, I cry when I feel someone really cares. or the sadness finally surfaces. I’m a stuffer, I guess. Response:

Yeah, happens quite often. Normally comes on after I have felt quite good about myself!! I don’t know if there is a connection there?  Also happens when I start thinking to hard…maybe it’s a safe guard in my brain saying I’m not cut out for thinking and should stop doing it, who knows!!!!! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I don’t know if this has been asked before but do you feel depressed and cry for no apperant reason?  I was just wondering. Yes. Mary Beth

I’ve been to a therapist but Im more into the selfhelp.I’m into herbs and vitamins, read alot of books on depression and possitive thinking.I denied my depression for ten years or more and lived in a hole.I almost lost a wonderful marriage and decided enough is a enough.Things are looking brighter and I dont have as many crashes as I used to, when they come they come like a sledge hammer in the face.  This is my first time talking on ASD so maybe this is something I need. Hi Missy I don’t know if this has been asked before but do you feel depressed and cry for no apperant reason?  I was just wondering.

Every so often  feel like crying and sometimes i do, and i don’t always know why. Sometimes the reason becomes apparent in a few days. I also think that sometimes we cry because we are mourning something from our past that we have never dealt with enough.  Ive used the book "Feeling Good The New Mood Therapy" for about three months and it has made a big difference in the way I handle problems. I still crash like I am now but I handle them better they dont get as bad. I dont know if this is temporary (probably) or permanent, but its worth a shot.  I have been reading ASD for about  two weeks and decided to post.  I will look for "The Good News" book. Thank you for your concern, Candy P.S. have been to counseler but havent been motivated to go back.  HUH go figure!

Response:

that is imho _the_ best book for the self-helpers w/depression……i’ve used it several times myself & always found it helpful…..just a word of advice, if you don’t mind some: if suddenly, the book seems not to be helping, or you throw it aside w/the thought "this is so stupid" it’s time to go see a pro…..it often means the clinical side of the depression is kicking back on…… but as long as it works, go for it! i also recommend a book called "the good news about depression" (dont have an author off hand, try amazon.com) which tells about vitamin deficiencies & other biological causes of depression you might be interested in good luck! susan – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I am currently reading "Feeling Good   The New Mood Therapy" By David D. Happens all too often, Missy, and it’s REALLY inconvenient when you live in a crowded space.  I mean, having folks ask what’s wrong only makes me want to stifle it, but stifling it makes me *hurt*!  Fortunately, it’s rainy around here, so I can sneak out and do some "under water" sniffling, as long as I don’t let anyone see me.  (Heaven save me from well-intentioned strangers…)
