Question:
Has anyone ever experienced emotional blunting as a result of taking Seroquel? I am trying to pull apart what is depression, and what might be the Seroquel. (Fishing in the dark, so to speak) Thumper
Response:
Yes!!!! When I first started Seroquel they ramped me up to 100 mg bid… I felt like I was in a padded cell all of my own. I finally titrated down to only an evening dose for sleep (I have no psychosis involved with my bp — the seroquel is just for a tranquilzing purpose and anti-anxiety). Now I take only 25mg at bedtime. Seroquel slows the Alpha-wave patterns in the brain — higher doses can slow the thought processes enough that you will feel "muted" to your surroundings. This is why it is dangerous to drive and use heavy machinery, etc. when on anti-psychotics. Has anyone ever experienced emotional blunting as a result of taking Seroquel? Response:
Well I’m not sure if that’s how I feel–I can’t really tell how I feel. I just don’t feel anything. I feel no emotion, really. I feel stoic, solid, no longer agitated, but empty-no pain, no fear, no happiness. I would think this would be more depressive, but my physical clumsiness isnt that bad, and my acumen is better than it would be if I were depressed. I just don’t understand. I take 50mg at bedtime now, been at that dose for almost a week. I don’t feel hungover in the morning (but I used to). Thumper – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Yes!!!!
