Hi Joej, Welcome to the group. I dont have anything to add to what you’ve been told by the others ~~~Treacha :as the tree grows… :the bird flies…the cloud forms… :wherever you go, there you are

I’m still trying to research whether I have Bi-Polar or just a fluctuating personality with an anxiety disorder. I have made an appointment with a psychiatrist so in the meantime i just need a little information. I know that with bi-polar you can either be in two different states; Manic or Depressed. The answer to the question that I need to know is: "Under which one of these two states my aggressive and anti-social thinking occur? If you know anything about this please email me at (Take out NOSPAM.) —-

Hi Joel, Welcome to ASDM. We are here to offer support and to share our experiences and the different ways we have coped with a baffling and challenging disorder. Ditto to what Alexa has said. As with most things in life, BP disorder is not cut and dry. There are mixed types (I"m classified that way) meaning one can be manic and depressed simultaneously – weird situation I know. Your pdoc is qualified to diagnosed your condition but alot depends on the accuracy of the historical information you share with him/her. If you are able to be honest with your doc that can make a crucial difference in the accuracy of your diagnosis and subsequently, the effectiveness of the treatment regimen ordered. Let us know how you are progressing. Best of luck to you. Take care and be well, —– … Something Deep!

hi joel hmmm. we just posted the criteria according to the dsm iv for bipolar… it’s under help aurora i think… each of us has a different experience of bipolar..it’s not quite so clean cut as mania or depression. for some, it is..and those are *classic* bipolars…but most aren’t..most of us have experienced either rage or anxiety or both even… it’s good that you made an appointment with a pdoc. the pdoc will be able to listen to you talk about how youre doing and help figure out what’s going on… don’t expect that the pdoc will know immeadiately, sometimes it takes awhile for them to get a reasonably fleshed out picture–something with which they can dx you… sometimes illnesses morph…who knows… also..the question you ask, although it seems straightforward in black and white print, could turn out to be intensely complicated. but the answer could fall easily into bipolar–it could also fall into some other categories…i can’t tell.. i don’t know anything about you, if you’re taking meds or not, etc..and am not going to make a medical judgement. the pdoc is there for that… good luck.. alexia
