Anxiety worse in the morning???

Question:

Oh, ok, I thought maybe your were Martha Stewart posting under another name;) E. Brent Price – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -I think I fall into that bad catagory of perfectionists.  I can not deal with things left undone.  If things are not finished I can’t relax.  So I put myself on a daily schedule.  If I can’t get to everything I can’t function or sleep and I get very nasty.  I continuously worry about everything getting done. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I always feel better in the evening because I know all the days worries are over.  The house is clean, the kiddies are in bed, the next days lunches are prepared and the coffee pot is set up for the morning, and all is in order. In the evening I can relax and watch a movie or do something for myself. Cathy People Helping Others Become Independent Again Panic/Anxiety support Group, NJ Geez, I always feel worse in the morning because the house is a pigsty, my son overslept his AM class, the coffee pot is a quarter full of yesterdays brew, and there’s not a thing to eat that doesn’t need a pot or pan washed to cook it in, and the tape I rented but never got around to watching is overdue. How do you do it!?! E. Brent Price (green with envy)

My worst times are morning and early evening. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – This is common with endogenous depression it is called "diurnal depression/anxiety". Symptoms are horible in the morning – but by evening they are gone – you feel normal and wonder if you "really" felt that bad (until the next morning!!).. Right out of the text book! You couldnt said it better every morning when i wake up i feel extremely anxious and depressed but by the evening i feel like nothing ever happened to me Thanks for the info I had the exact same problem – as did my Brother in the USA. Serzone and Xanax cured both of us… Hope this helps, Mike from OZ I was just wondering if anyone else suffers differently at different times of the day.  It is a new thing for me !!  Just lately I have been waking up in a terrible state of anxiety, hardly being able to get out of bed through fear (of what, I don’t know !!).  Gradually, throughout the day I improve, so that by early afternoon I can see people and (sometimes) go out and usually by the evening I am feeling almost normal (as normal as ever with GAD !!)  Please let me know if you have suffered like this and anything I can do to improve my feelings in the mornings.  Many thanks in advance. Hi Sally,  I am usually at my worst mid evening, though it can strike at any time of the day or night.  Have you seen a Doctor yet.  If not, it would be a good idea.  I see that you are also in the UK, where most doctors seem to be pretty clueless about this kind of problem.  You may have to shop around to find a good one who will help. — Jon Guite When replying by email, please remove the trailing x from my return address

Hi.. I suffer my PA and anxiety at night and in the AM more than anything…what I did was when I would wake up in the middle of the night..which I normally did around 2am..I took a xanax…a .25mg and it would help me get back to sleep but hadnt worn off by the morning….so I was fine… if I didnt do this I was very disoriented and even scared to get out of bed because of the anxiety…felt like I was on the verge of a PA… good luck to you.. :) Tami

I often wake up with high anxiety. As I take my meds in the morning the anxiety vanishes after about an hour. Philip

Hello, Man are mornings bad, I try to get to the xanax ASAP. I have found that keeping my eyes closed right when I wake up helps I dont know why. But you are not alone. Lee

Yes, mine is definately worse in the morning.  Especially if something freaks me out in the night, like a wierd dream.  Anyway, what I have discovered is that 90% of the time, when I open my eyes I feel fine.  THen I think "Do I feel good?" which startst the anxiety for me.  Breaking this habit has been the worst for me.  Like another poster, my doctor wanted to start klonopin before bedtime for me also.  However I have found that I can work through it for now, without any more meds.  Hopefully that will remain the case. Sally I feel the anxiety worse in the morning too,  I mentioned this to my p-doc and he prescribed  Kolonpin at night and it’s really helped with my morning anxiety (YMMV, of course) hope this helps Pam
