Antibiotics & Arthritis

Question:

I was dignosed having sero negative RA two months ago. Presently, I am taking Nsaid, Predisone and Gold. I have heard about antibiotics for the cure of RA. I am very depressed and worried about my condition and would like anybody to give me advices. Thank you.

HI,   I also have RA and the only time that i was ever in full remission was when i was taking gold and pred, but like all med for RA it takes a little time to work.  You depression is understandable but if the gold does not continue to controll the Ra,  ask your RD about Methx.  Please understand that all the medicines you take to make life livable have trade offs and side effects.  Have your blood and urine tested regularly and talk to your RD about all of it.   If he does not explain sideeffects or listen to your reactions to your medications and his explaining what is going on with you—-  go to another RD.    We have maney good happening with reserch on RA.   Try to keep as active as you are able and control your weight(Predisone makes some people gain weight).   I have had RA since I was in my early 30s and have had a good life raising four kids who are all on their own and doing well.  I am in my late 50’s and in an active retirement— I guess my point is that life will be what you make it with the help of God and a good RD. Gold can be an effective therapy for arthritis, but make sure your liver function is regularly monitored.
