Explaining How to Overcome Depression and Tension?

Overcoming depression with the added tension is not as easy as it sounds. Many individuals have tried to conquer this depression but found they were losing their way. Unfortunately there are bombardments of difficulties facing each individual every day and for the most part facing these difficulties does pay off. There are times when looking to the outside for assistance is a futile effort leaving the individual more depressed than in the beginning. How to overcome depression is a different approach for each individual. The individual must identify the causes of depression first in order to proceed in a successful approach.

Depression effects may come from the loss of a husband, wife, brother, sister, or children and this will take its toll on the depressed individual. The onset of course is very quick and may take months to overcome even with the assistance of depression drugs prescribed by a family medical physician. Some things such as a loss like this will take the individual time to heal, but they will heal. Another example is giving birth to a stillborn infant and the devastating and depressing effects this has on an individual. Female depression at time like this can run very deep and the new mother will begin by blaming herself for the loss of the child. Yet, this is really an act of God and the new mother is aware of this, but the emotional turmoil the body is experiencing plays havoc with human emotion and postpartum depression will soon take over.

Family members can play an active role in helping to rebuild the self-esteem and confidence of the individual who is experiencing these textbook depression facts. Often in addiction and the recovery or self-esteem, the individual is emotionally drained and feeling very low. Family members can work with the individual by paying attention to the signs of depression and trying to establish a new foothold for the individual. Unfortunately it is really difficult to feel good and smile on the outside when the individual is suffering such agonizing pain on the inside.

First things the individual can proceed with are paying attention to their own internal and emotional needs. Focusing on those things once found enjoyable like listening to favorite songs or sitting outside in the backyard and allow all the natural sounds fill the mind with soothing sounds and thoughts to help lift the spirit. The idea is to build up the self-esteem and confidence because when doing this the physical aches and pains will soon disappear. Try writing a daily schedule and then following it allowing for time to relax, read a book, or talk a short; slow walk outdoors like around the block.

Foods containing a high content of sugar are the foods to either avoid or ration, with at least five or six half-cup servings of vegetables and fruit to aid diminishing the depression systems. The satisfaction of the sweet fruits will also help curtail the urge for chocolates. This is by no means a cure for depression but it is traveling down the right path. The individual could try adding a few servings of whole grain goods like wheat bread, pasta, various cereal, and rice to the weekly diet. Adding a few servings of protein in the weekly diet will also help to build up nutritionally what the individual lost. A few small servings of beef, chicken, fish, cheese is healthy and an assortment of nuts which are also high in protein.
