Explain the Difference between Major and Minor Depression?

Emotions of sadness, as the emotion of happiness slowly is peeling away with the individual not having any formal control of the situation. This is an emotion that is expressive of many individuals at different points in time depending on what is happing. It is an expression of deep, sullen emotion that will last for a time. These are the depression symptoms an individual will experience at the death of a mother, father, sister, brother, wife, husband, and children. However, with the passing, the individual will want to seek depression help to get through the ordeal.

Individuals who surmise either they or someone close to them is exhibiting signs of depression this is a serious condition that requires medical attention. Major depression is more serious in that it can and usually does last for months and eventually for years. The individual will require a depression support group and visit with a medical physician for a more accurate diagnosis. This will help in deciding which depression treatment will most benefit the individual.

Depression effects on any individual will vary because there is a multitude of medical reasons as to why the individual is depressed. A varied diagnosis may reveal it is a major depression that requires the use of medication to help the individual back from the brink. There are depression drugs that are most appropriate for individuals suffering from a depression when it is more of a chemical imbalance within the brain. There is also clinical depression which if not diagnosed and treated will relapse many times over until the individual is so incapacitated they completely give up trying.

It is so very difficult at times yet with minor depression the individual may have the rare opportunity to control the depressive disorder through a specialized diet, but it is still important to speak with a medical physician and receive a depression diagnosis first before trying to analyze the situation alone. It really is dependent upon the depth or the severity of the depression as to the type of treatment an individual needs to pursue. On the other side of the spectrum, individuals diagnosed with severe depression may be prescribed with medication such a Prozac, while another individual with a milder form of depression will receive a prescription of lexapro for a period of time.

However, this is so difficult because there are so many reasons that will invite the onset of depression and the degrees of depression really run through to both ends of the spectrum. This is the reason why it is very difficult to receive a diagnosis from a medical physician quickly. Sometimes the simple task of going outside for a simple walk for maybe an hour or so will help some individuals. Others find relaxing in a warm bath for about half an hour works relieve some of the tension.

Unfortunate individuals are confused as to the causes of depression will find themselves lost unless they at least try to seek a medical physician to help guide them through this difficult time. Those individual are the ones who need depression therapy the most because the emotions of plans for suicide, the potential of self-harm and suicidal thoughts are enough to drive anyone down a path they may otherwise not consider. A few of the other signs of depression are lack of appetite, lack of sleep, loss of interest, especially regarding activities that the individual once enjoyed.
